Christian rapper 1K Phew hails from Stone Mountain, Georgia. By his mid-teens, he was already interested in rap but was spending a lot of time getting in trouble on the streets. After an incident when he and his friends were shot at and narrowly escaped death, he turned to a life devoted to faith. He credits God and the love of his parents with getting his mind right and keeping his heart pure. In 2017 he released his Never Too Late mixtape and guested on the Metro Boomin-produced single “Hammer Time” by Lecrae.
His life and songs represent the culture that shaped him wherever he travels. His latest project, “What’s Understood 2” is a pure, unfiltered trap, influenced by his East Atlanta surroundings rather than designed in a lab. My goal is to keep it at 1,000. According to the rapper, this is where the $1000 comes from. The 25-year-old rapper and producer have worked with artists such as Zaytoven, Lecrae, and WU2.
